Baptism
Water cleanses us, feeds us, and renews us. In Baptism, God changes us and welcomes us into the Christian community – the beginning of life in Christ, marked as Christ’s own forever. The sacrament of Baptism reminds us of the absolute, unconditional love of God, who claims us as a beloved child of God. In baptism the Holy Spirit is at work within us and through us as we become believers of the Christian faith through this Holy Sacrament.
Our Baptismal Font stands in the front of our nave and represents a visible, tangible symbol as to the mystery of God and our commitment to a Christian life. Through the “Thanksgiving Over the Water,” we revisit the story of God’s faithfulness and power to our ancestors, because Baptism is a family story of faith throughout all of time.
Grace Church in Nutley celebrates Baptism as a community on some of our most holy Feast Days throughout the year. We welcome you to contact Father Asa or speak with the Parish Administrator for more information on how to begin preparing for your or your child’s baptism.
